Abstract | Community-based early childhood education and development programs can serve a geographical community, but may also serve a group not necessarily from the same community but who have a deep interest in one or more community-based schools. This set of booklets provides a proposal and program characteristics for a community-based early childhood education center. The six booklets are as follows: (1) "Community Based Preschools," including reasons for community-based pre-schools and fundraising guidelines; (2) "The Why, What, and How of a Community-based Early Childhood Education Centre," including activities that would take place, the managerial hierarchy, and how local funding is raised; (3) "Local Fund-raising in Early Childhood Education Centres," including forms for calculating funding amounts and expenses at the centre level; (4) "National Fund Raising," including form letters requesting sponsorship; (5) "Agendas for Board Meetings of Caribbean Community-based Early Childhood Education Centres," including parent meetings, Parents as Teachers Programme, Parent Educator minutes, scholarships, annual budgets, policies, and elections; and (6) "Profile of the National Association of Early Childhood Educators [NAECE]," including a 5-year action plan, rationale, objectives and mission statement of the NAECE.
