Abstract | This bulletin is designed to help teachers integrate the arts and humanities into the social studies curriculum. The volume includes three chapters. Chapter 1, "Learning Through the Arts," features the following sections: (1) "Integration"; (2) "Assessment"; and (3) "References and For Further Reading." Chapter 2, "Using Theater in the Classroom," provides the following lessons: (1) "Statues--Slave Life in the Plantation South"; (2) "Mock Trials--Trial Procedure"; (3) "Debate and Town Meeting--The Triangular Trade"; (4) "Simulation--Apartheid Passbook"; (5) "Inhabiting History--World War I"; and (6) "References and For Further Reading." Chapter 3, "Creative Writing and Literature," contains the following lessons: (1) "Student Journals"; (2) "Journals"; (3) "Letter Writing--World War I"; (4) "Gutenberg and the Monks of the Middle Ages"; (5) "Parallel Journals--Stanley's and Africans' Observations"; (6) "Learning History Through Plays--'Galileo' by Bertolt Brecht"; (7) "Learning History Through Novels--'Water Music' by T. C.
