Chapter 3, "Creative Writing and Literature," contains the following lessons: (1) "Student Journals"; (2) "Journals"; (3) "Letter Writing--World War I"; (4) "Gutenberg and the Monks of the Middle Ages"; (5) "Parallel Journals--Stanley's and Africans' Observations"; (6) "Learning History Through Plays--'Galileo' by Bertolt Brecht"; (7) "Learning History Through Novels--'Water Music' by T. C.
