AbstractThis notebook serves the purpose of informing the Compton Community College District about the student body population, faculty and classified employees in reference to gender, race/ethnicity and age. Findings from an analysis of the period from fall 1991 to fall 1995 included the following: (1) over the period, the enrollment of Black students has decreased by 500 from 3,000 in 1991, while the number of Latino students has remained constant at 2,000; (2) in fall 1995, 23% of the students were between 30 and 39 years of age, 17% were between 22 and 25, and 16% were between 19 and 21; (3) from 1991-95, 65% of the students have been attending part-time, while 75% have been attending day classes; (4) the percentage of female students has increased from 58% to 65% over the period; (5) the number of students receiving financial aid in fall 1995 was 1,378, representing 29% of the student body; (6) in 1995, there were 75 full-time and 123 part-time instructors, while 53% of all instructors were Black, 27% were White, 9% were Latinos, and 8% were Asians; and (7) in 1995, there were 107 full-time and 13 part-time classified employees, while 70% of all classified employees were Black, 14% were Latinos, 9% were White, and 4% were Asian. Data tables and 1990 United States Census data for the cities of Compton, Lynwood, Paramount, and Carson are included. (TGI)
