Abstract | This news digest provides an annotated bibliography on resources about inclusion of children with disabilities in general education classrooms. An introductory section on inclusion considers: definitions of inclusion and mainstreaming, provisions of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act which provide the legal basis for inclusion, issues in the debate on inclusion and reform initiatives, and 12 factors critical to establishing successful inclusionary practices and programs. The annotated bibliography lists resources published between 1991 and 1995 and includes: bibliographies and directories of print, video, and organizational resources on inclusion; policy resources which provide discussions of such issues as beliefs about inclusion, legal and financial matters, accountability, and school restructuring; and "how to" resources which provide information about general inclusion issues or focus on specific issues such as teacher collaboration and curricular adaptation. A list of publishers' addresses and telephone numbers is also provided. (Contains 22 references.) (SW) |
