| Abstract | Environmental attitudes and behaviors established during the preschool years provide the basis for a lifetime of responsible actions. Each activity in this guide is designed to stand alone and have been arranged by key experiences (classification, number concepts, representation, seriation, spatial relations, and time) and by environmental topics (basic survival needs, change, conservation, evidence of wildlife, habitat, and recycling/litter prevention). Each activity includes a statement of the instructional objective; a brief description of the method used; background information for the teacher; a list of materials needed; procedures for each section; ways to evaluate student learning; indication of recommended age level, key experiences, setting (outdoors or indoors) and key vocabulary; extensions to reinforce the major activity; and teaching aids. Appendices include a list of agencies and organizations which may be helpful to teachers who use the activities and a glossary of terms for use by the teacher. (MKR) |
