AbstractThis teacher guide, an EE Toolbox resource, is a collection of stories about teachers who initiated environmental programs in their classrooms and schools. The guide is divided into three units. The first provides a brief overview of the scope, history, and value of environmental education. The second offers suggestions for instructional materials, funding, workshops, courses, and in-service opportunities in environmental education. The third unit includes information on networking with other environmental educators, securing grants for your environmental education program, dealing with a growing environmental education project, and locating awards, scholarships and stipends that are available for environmental educators and their students. Each unit contains general information about how to bring environmental education into the classroom, a list of sample sources to consult for more information, and a collection of stories to provide imagery of how other teachers incorporated environmental education into their classrooms. The index identifies areas of environmental education content covered in the stories, such as water quality, toxins, and energy consumption. The index also identifies areas of environmental education process, such as developing student awareness and motivating student action-taking. The appendices include a list of select resource materials, suggestions for resources to include in your library, and a feedback form. (MKR)
