| Abstract | An ongoing research project has been designed to study the factors that constitute quality in children's life in Danish, Swedish, and Finish day care centers. Each national group will present a number of transcripts of observations, and will then make an analysis of the observations made by the other groups. Thus, the different frames of reference due to national variations in day care practice will be used to find similarities and differences. Through observations of Danish, Swedish, and Finish children, and interviews with the children and teachers, the project will analyze the quality of children's every day lives in the day care center in order to determine the characteristics of care, upbringing, and education that promote quality in children's lives.
