Abstract | The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Nutrition Education and Training Program (NET) provides nutrition information and instructional resources for children, parents, educators, and food service personnel. This report describes the evaluation methods of the NET Program in Texas in fiscal year 1992, describes evaluation results, and offers recommendations. Section I of the report provides an executive summary of the evaluation activities. Section II describes the NET Program's outreach activities, including nutrition workshops, a lending library, distribution of instructional materials, and public presentations. Section III reports on the evaluation of the contracts awarded to promote the School Breakfast Program. The development and evaluation of the "Earl E. Bird" Public Services Announcement are reported in Section IV. Section V provides a general evaluation of the NET Program. Appendices include copies of the evaluation instruments used in the NET Program, the results of a survey conducted by NET at the 82d Annual Convention of the Texas Parent Teacher Association (PTA), and the correspondence and questionnaire used in evaluating the "Earl E. Bird" Public Service Announcement. (ME) |
