Abstract	This report contains the composite information from team administrations of the Parents' Resource Institute for Drug Education (PRIDE) drug use questionnaire administered in local schools to 6th- through 12-graders throughout the southeastern United States during school year 1988-89. The 11 states or areas included in the report are: Alabama, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Virginia, and West Virginia. In 1988-89 approximately 50,000 students (N=49,907) were surveyed. These surveys were combined into a summary data set and provide a tremendous amount of percentage data for analyses. Chapter I explains the purposes and procedures of the survey. In addition, to place this information in a more manageable and usable form, selected data are reported and discussed in Chapters II and III. Chapter II contains information on cigarettes, alcohol, and marijuana for the 1988-89 school year and Chapter III contains information on other illicit drugs for the school years 1988-89. Both chapters include percentage tables and graphs regarding prevalence and patterns of use of the various drugs included in the survey. Chapter IV contains a brief summary and recommendations formulated from conducting surveys in the Southeast region. Appendix A contains a copy of the PRIDE Questionnaire used to gather data in the surveys and Appendix B contains tables and selected graphs of data from the combined surveys in 1988-89. (ABL)
