AbstractWith state funding, 2 + 2 + 2 articulation programs were developed on 25 California community college campuses to address the need to educate, train, and retain members of underrepresented groups in diverse occupations, to reduce high school dropout rates, and to coordinate the intersegmental transfer process. This handbook offers information and guidance on developing articulated programs that begin in the third year of high school, include two years of community college education, and are completed at a four-year institution. The handbook covers the following topics: (1) the history and background of 2 + 2 + 2 articulation, including definitions and principles; (2) the changing demographics of California's workforce and the implications for education; (3) the role of the 2 + 2 + 2 articulation council, including examples of councils and advisory committees; (4) faculty involvement; (5) articulation agreements, including sections on definitions, components, and procedures; (6) outreach, including student identification, recruitment, and retention; (7) student support services, including information for counselors and a suggested list of handbook contents; (8) tracking student enrollment; and (9) promoting and funding articulation programs. Each section includes overheads, handouts, sample forms, and references. A separate section on references and resources is attached. (JMC)
