AbstractThis report describes the educational and economic achievements and challenges of the Utah adult education program in a statistical outline and in a chart format. Section A outlines general achievement information: numbers of Utah adults without a high school diploma; total enrollees; educational achievements (attendance, diploma or passage of equivalency test, received credits); and economic achievements (obtained job, obtained better job, unemployed served). Section B consists of two tables: economic investment balance sheet--adult basic education (ABE) and adult high school (AHS) economic achievements (dollars expended and estimated dollars saved or returned on investment) and economic return on the fiscal year 1990 ABE and AHS programs. Section C is a summary that illustrates the cost effectiveness of the adult education program. Section D contains 24 charts, including program appropriations by source and fiscal year; ABE and AHS enrollees by fiscal year, age categories, sex, and racial and ethnic groups; profile of ABE and AHS enrollees upon program entry; educational achievements of enrollees; economic achievements of enrollees; AHS impact data; ABE and AHS students leaving the instructional program and reasons; number of personnel by type of job preferred; AHS graduates; special adult education program data; and General Educational Development program achievements.
