| Abstract | Designed to assist teachers in the incorporation of global education and the development of prototype materials to introduce a global component into the classroom, this resource directory includes extensive lesson plan designs for elementary, middle, and secondary schools. A bibliography is provided for each section as well as lists of other additional resources. The topics included are: (1) How to Write a Global Studies Unit; (2) Maps and Global Education; and (3) How to Plan a Unit on a Geographic Area/Region. Among the lesson plans presented are sections on teaching about Latin America, Japan, South African race relations, ethnic diversity within Massachusetts, and the issue of poverty. Curriculum packets and activities are provided, with descriptions for planning individual classroom units. A 25-page listing of materials available for loan from the International Resource Center is also appended. (NL) |
