Abstract | This guide was developed to assist home economics teachers in implementing the Missouri Vocational Instructional Management System into the home economics curriculum at the local level through a family living and parenthood semester course. The course contains a minimum of two performance objectives for each competency developed and validated by teachers with expertise in the area of family living and parenthood and one criterion-referenced test item developed and validated for each performance objective. Each performance objective consists of a given, a task, and criteria for successful completion of the task. Test item formats include true/false, multiple choice, and matching; answers are provided. Performance objectives and test items are provided for the following competencies: appreciating strategies for developing a positive self-concept; identifying communication skills; appreciating types of life-styles; appreciating factors influencing decisions and choices related to parenting; recognizing careers in family living and parenthood; identifying types of small businesses; and developing leadership through Future Homemakers of America. A 12-item resource list is also included. (KC) |
