Abstract	The "art" of investment and the relationships between the cash manager and the outside professionals who implement the steps that entail cash management are the subjects of the 11 chapters of this guide to investing school district funds. Chapter 1 describes the role and responsibility of the small school district cash manager. Chapter 2 discusses the external factors that influence investment. Investment policy is suggested in Chapter 3. Chapters 4, 5, 6, and 7 deal with cash flow forecasting, investment philosophies, investment decision analysis, and investment selection. Chapter 8 considers the costs of doing business and chapter 9 clarifies yield curves and swaps. In the last two chapters, professional financial relationships and the protection of assets are discussed. The conclusion frames the purpose of this book: School district officials are obligated to get the best possible returns and must understand major essentials of the investment process. (JAM)
