| Abstract | Data collected from an exploratory study concerned with the technical communications practices of aerospace engineers and scientists were analyzed to test the primary assumption that profit and nonprofit managers in the aerospace community have different technical communications practices. Profit and nonprofit managers were compared in five secondary assumptions concerning: (1) the importance of communicating technical information effectively; (2) the use and production of technical information and technical information products; (3) the content for an undergraduate course in technical communications; (4) the use of libraries, technical information centers and on-line databases; and (5) the use and importance of computer and information technology. Results revealed that profit and nonprofit managers in the aerospace community have different technical communications practices for the second of the five assumptions tested, (Twenty-seven tables of data are included; 14 references and one appendix containing the survey instrument are attached.)
