Abstract	This basic instructional guide for the first two years of instruction in agricultural education is one in a series of such guides. It is useful in developing and selecting instructional material and implementing competency-based education for two courses: agricultural science and basic plant science and agricultural science and basic animal science. These courses are introductory and basic in nature, and approximately half the courses are allotted to agricultural mechanics. Introductory materials include a listing of related Dictionary of Occupational Titles job titles and overview of the courses (definition, purposes, objectives, enrollment guidelines, occupational experience program, hours of instruction). Course descriptions and content outlines are then provided for each of the two courses. The content outline is matched with the corresponding task/competency code. Appendixes include recommended facility plans and inclusions and listings of references, audiovisual suppliers, and tools and equipment. (YLB)
