Abstract | To determine the analysis of variance among different assessments of teaching competencies shown by preservice education students as student teachers, 32 undergraduates certified in 1985 and 42 from 1986 were studied. Data were obtained on their self-evaluations of 25 teaching competencies. Evaluations by their cooperating teachers (35 in fall 1985 and 48 in spring 1986) and university supervisors (34 in fall 1985 and 41 in spring 1986) were also studied. The statistical null hypothesis was that no differences would be found among the means derived from students assessing their own competencies and that no differences would be found among the means of cooperating teachers' evaluations and supervisors' evaluations. The null hypothesis was rejected relative to the assessment of seven competencies and retained for interpreting the statistical meaning of no significant differences in the different assessments of the remaining 18 competencies. Fifty-one tables present study findings. The rating questionnaires are also attached. (SLD) |
