AbstractKean College of New Jersey's most recent performance report is represented in response to the Governor's challenge that each of the state colleges develop a comprehensive plan that would "chart their own paths to greatness." Following an introduction that looks at the core of excellence, conditions of excellence, and the path to excellence, five sections focus on objectives. They are: (1) to assess and improve student achievement (assessment of learning and development outcomes, training and development, student awareness and involvement, what was learned from the process, future directions, and dissemination activities); (2) to improve access and persistence (recruitment of minority students, freshman center, learning assistance programs, and increasing student involvement and strengthening leadership); (3) to implement strengthened general education program (strengthening and expansion of general education curriculum, cultural programming, faculty training, assessment, program evaluation, and a note on dissemination); (4) to expand faculty and professional staff development (computer training plans and computer training initiatives); and (5) to integrate computers in curricula (institutional initiatives, programmatic and discipline-based laboratories, computer purchase incentives, and associated computer research and training opportunities).
