Abstract	Assessment projects at Missouri's institutions of higher education are summarized. At the request of the Missouri Coordinating Board for Higher Education, each institution prepared a description that included information on the number of students involved, expected outcomes, and specifically related expenditures. In Missouri, assessment is considered an integral part of each college's and university's strategy to improve teaching and learning and of the state's strategy to monitor the effectiveness of its system of higher education. Many of the activities described here have been in place for some time, while others are very new or still being developed. A table showing institutional assessment initiatives from 1987-1988 focuses on ACT, placement, general education, major, survey, other, students involved, and expenditure. Report summaries are included for: four-year colleges; regional universities; statewide liberal arts; 1890 land-grant university; 1862 land-grand university; and community colleges. (SM)
