Abstract | This report considers ways in which schools should introduce new educational technologies, particularly microcomputers, into the classroom without "overselling" the value and usefulness of such technology. Resistance by the public and by teachers to previous educational innovations is examined, as are current barriers to the adoption of new educational technologies. Warning against a "quick technological fix," the report presents 22 recommendations for promoting the successful adoption of new educational technologies which are concerned with the role of teachers, the role of administrators, funding, training, and curriculum development. A 28-item bibliography is provided. (EW) |
