| Abstract | The collective bargaining agreement between the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education and the Association of Pennsylvania and University Faculties, an affiliate of the National Education Association, covering the period July 1, 1985-June 30, 1987 is presented. Items covered in the agreement include: unit recognition, academic freedom, faculty duties and responsibilities, grievance procedure and arbitration, department chairpersons, performance of bargaining unit work rights and privileges of the union, rights of the state system of higher education/universities, faculty appointment, performance review and evaluation, personnel files, renewals and nonrenewals, tenure, promotion, sick leave, leaves of absence, work-related injuries, retirement, fringe benefits, salaries, workload and workload equivalents, summer employment, overload, independent study and individualized instruction, continuing education, dues checkoff, retrenchment, health and welfare, travel expenses, and agreement against strikes and lockouts.
