| Abstract | The collective bargaining agreement between the Rhode Island Board of Governors and Rhode Island College Chapter of the American Federation of Teachers for 1985-1987 is presented. Items covered in the agreement include: unit recognition; board-union relationships; selection of deans, vice-presidents, and the president; department chairpersons, departmental advisory committees; faculty appointments, rank, and employment standards; annual review of faculty; evaluation criteria; faculty salaries; promotion and tenure; nonrenewal; leaves of absence; faculty load, class size and course assignments; scheduling; working conditions; grievance procedure; no strike/lockout agreement; fringe benefits; summer session; evaluation of librarians; annual vacation for calendar year library faculty and teaching faculty; teaching continuing education and community service courses; and limited term appointment.
