AbstractThis course content guide was developed in accordance with the Standards for Accreditation of Public Schools adopted by the Arkansas State Board of Education. The guide is offered as a framework upon which a curriculum can be built. Within the subject area and at each grade level, the content guide identifies skills at three instructional levels: basic, developmental, and extensions. The basic skills are those skills that all students must master and upon which the minimum performance test items are based. Extensions are suggested for those learners who have mastered the required basic and recommended developmental skills. Extensions stress the higher order thinking, processing, and problem-solving skills. These extensions suggest ways for the teacher to broaden student learning on a grade level without introducing more basic skills from subsequent grade levels. This business ownership and management guide offers skills sequenced for grades 11 and 12. This guide lists skills for the following three courses: business law (the judicial system, minors, consumer law, business law, contracts, credit, sales contracts, employment, commercial paper, insurance, and real and personal property); entrepreneurship (business environments, social and economic implications of business, decision making, planning, legal aspects of business ownership, legal issues and the small business, capital and credit, protecting assets, management functions, controlling, personnel management, financial management, marketing management, taxes and government regulations, community relations); and junior executive training (JET) (business environments, social and economic implications of business, leadership, decision making, human relations, communications, business machines, planning, legal issues, and other business management functions).
