Abstract	Results of a survey of student living expenses at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington, are summarized. Cost data were collected on food, clothing, shelter, books and supplies, personal expenses, medical costs, transportation, and child care. Of a random sample of 433 students, 145 responded to the survey. Respondents consisted of full-time and part-time students of whom 63 percent lived off campus. Two-thirds of the participants had never received financial aid from the university. Almost 60% worked, and three out of five worked more than 20 hours per week. As expected, full-time students spent more on books and supplies than part-time students. Among full-time students, food costs averaged $100 per semester more for on-campus students than for off-campus students. Financial aid recipients seemed as likely to hold a job as nonrecipients. The amount of students' living expenses seemed unrelated to whether they received financial aid or whether they held a job. The questionnsire including overall responses is included. (SW)
