Abstract | The collective bargaining agreement between Rider College and the Rider College Chapter of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) covering the period September 1, 1985-August 31, 1988 is presented. Items covered in the agreement include: definitions and unit recognition; nondiscrimination; affirmative action; academic freedom; union privileges; academic ranks for faculty, ranking system for librarians, appointments; faculty voice in academic elements of hiring; promotion and tenure for faculty and librarians; evaluation procedure, dismissal and suspension; appeals procedure; annual reappointment and nonreappointment of nontenured bargaining unit members; department heads; academic governance; personnel files; lay-off; professional athletic staff; part-time faculty; evaluation; past practices; management rights; union rights; dues check-off; grievance and arbitration procedure; no strike/no lockout; general work conditions; open classroom; workload; outside employment; research and enrichment; patent policy; sick leave; compensation and fringe benefits; salary adjustment; retirement age and retirement benefits; and separability.
