Abstract | Guidelines are offered in this manual for developing a physical education curriculum for grades one through eight. The primary objective for the curriculum is the development of physical fitness, and also motor and life skills in students. Activities are recommended in the areas of team and individual sports, aquatics, and rhythm and dance. The guide lists Topics/Concepts, Learning Outcomes/Objectives, and Sample Learning Activities. "Topics and Concepts" define broadly the content to be included in the study of each subject area. "Learning Outcomes and Objectives" describe the behaviors which students are expected to demonstrate as a result of their learning experiences. "Sample Learning Activities" are given as indicators of student progress toward the stated goals, i.e., the learning outcomes. (JD) |
