Abstract | Proposing an educational maxim that education is for self-fulfillment and societal adaptation, the paper argues that the educational methods or teaching strategies of "learning self-fulfillment" must be different. The curriculum must be rational and flexible, exposing a child to as many things as possible to facilitate self-fulfillment. Further, the morality of a given society is reflected by the vocational opportunities which in turn are determined by the interplay between societal values as a whole and educational institutions as a group. Real education takes place when the individual-societal conflict is better resolved in the direction of a society serving more people well. The paper concludes with the idea that initial real education will accelerate a spiral toward a more utopian society. (TRS) |
