| Abstract | Major databases and data collection efforts related to postsecondary education are described. Database selection was limited to data that was national in scope, of broad interest, and timely (after 1970). Over 75 databases are covered, each on a two-page abstract that describes subject matter and scope of the database, the data collection method, availability of the data, the time period associated with the data, the originating organization and contact person, frequency of issue, keywords, organization distributing the data, and additional references that further describe the database and data collection. For surveys, information is included on sampling methodology. The size of a database, major data elements, and the unit of analysis of the database are also indicated. Keywords describe the data and are also used in indexing the abstracts. Each of the data base abstracts is numbered for future reference and cross-referencing. In addition to an abstract index (name and number of the database or survey), abstracts are listed by organization and by keywords. A separate section listing organizations includes addresses, contact persons, and phone numbers. (SW) |
