Abstract | The report describes accomplishments of a project for training personnel involved in occupational education for handicapped students in 2-year colleges. The inservice training was intended for vocational educators, career/academic/personal counselors, job placement officers, and coordinators for special services for disabled students. Training focused on three major areas (vocational instruction, administration, and interprofessional cooperation) and was implemented via career/vocational teams. Teams from 17 2-year colleges attended 9 workshops at 3 all-day conferences which included joint meetings of college staff and training personnel and line supervisors from industry. A general theme of modifying the attitudinal climate of the college was addressed in all three conferences which separately focused on occupationsl training of students with learning disabilities, visual and hearing impairments, and orthopedic impairments and hidden disabilities. Each of the three conferences is described and presentations summarized. Appended material includes listings of conference participants, agendas, and materials distributed at the conferences. (CL) |
