AbstractThis clerical task simulation is designed for use in office occupations programs at the secondary level. The primary purpose is to give the student the opportunity to become familiar with the tasks and duties that may be performed by clerical personnel in a real work situation. The employee's manual provides general information for the student on use of the work order (instruction sheet), time clocks, office reference manuals, personal appearance, employer/employee relations, and performance and progress. It also contains the 15 tasks the student is required to perform. Each task consists of a work order that describes the work and special instructions and most of the written materials that are needed to perform the task. Tasks are designed to be completed in a relatively short period of time--from 15 minutes to 1 hour. The employer's manual (teacher's guide) contains an information sheet for each task that details descriptions, materials/supplies and equipment, and suggested requirements (prerequisites, approximate completion time, accuracy); the keys to tasks found in the employee's manual; and scripts to cassette tapes that provide the information needed to perform certain tasks.
