| Abstract | This curriculum guide lists mathematics topics and concepts, learning outcomes, and sample learning objectives (in three columns) for these secondary school mathematics courses in Alaska: (1) general mathematics; (2) consumer mathematics; (3) pre-algebra; (4) algebra I; (5) algebra II; (6) geometry; (7) trigonometry; (8) precalculus; and (9) calculus. Topics/concepts, in the first column, describe the major parts of the subject under consideration. They define broadly the content to be included in the study of each subject area. Learning outcomes, in the second column, describe, in general terms, the behaviors students are expected to demonstrate as a result of their learning experiences. These outcomes are the goals toward which student learning is directed. Sample learning objectives, shown in the third column, are indicators of student progress toward the stated goals. At least one sample learning objective is stated for each learning outcome. The concepts and topic areas for the nine courses (which are included in the topics/concepts column) are listed in an appendix. (JN) |
