Abstract | This module on developing and using learning centers in the classroom was developed in response to interest voiced by teachers and assistant teachers in Mississippi. Intended to accompany assistant teacher staff development videotapes, the information included in the module is in handout form to be disseminated to the participants by the workshop leader as it is discussed. The patterns and instructions for constructing games (Appendix A-D) for four learning centers contained in this module--Clowning into Reading, the Reading Farm, Circus Math, and Math Zoo--are designed for use during the second semester of the first grade and the entire second grade but may be adjusted to teach or reinforce any concept in any subject area. A supervisor's evaluation instrument has been included. Appendices E (Materials Needed) and F (Bibliography) provide the leader with added resource information to use before conducting the workshop sessions. (DST) |
