Abstract | This report contains testimony regarding House Resolution 4684, the National Nutrition Monitoring and Related Research Act of 1984. The primary purpose of the bill is to: (1) implement a coordinated national nutrition monitoring and related research program; (2) provide a scientific basis for the improvement of the nutritional status of the population; and (3) judge the nutritional quality of the U.S. food supply. Unabridged testimony is presented from: (1) the Director of Nutritional Sciences, Cornell Universitiy; (2) the Director of Nutrition Services, Rhode Island Department of Health; (3) the Assistant Director of Nutrition Research, National Dairy Council; (4) a nutritionist from the Food Research and Action Center, accompanied by a policy analyst from Bread for the World; (5) the Assistant Secretary for Health, Department of Health and Human Services; (6) the Assistant Secretary for Science and Education, Department of Agriculture; (7) the Administrator of the Human Nutrition Information Service, Department of Agriculture; and (8) the Assistant Surgeon General for Research and Development, Department of the Army.
