Abstract | This collection of competency statements deals with the eight skill areas in which entry-level general office workers must have competence. Addressed in the individual sections of the volume are the ability to type, to use good business English, to perform business filing, to utilize business math concepts, to use office machines, to understand and perform the functions and duties of various office occupations, to comprehend general office policy, and to complete a variety of office preemployment exams. The eight sections of the guide include subcompetency statement sheets, each of which includes the following: the competency area addressed, a competency statement, a competency indicator, one or more benchmarks, and a list of assessment criteria.
