Abstract | This curriculum contains materials for use in duplicating the 11-week course for machine operators that was implemented at New Hampshire Vocational-Technical College in Nashua, New Hampshire. Addressed in the course, which is designed to prepare entry-level employees, are the following topics: basic math, blueprint reading, layout tools and procedures, hand tools and benchwork, measurement and inspection tools, fundamentals of machining, and operation of machine tools. The curriculum package includes: a discussion of the scope of the program; the name and address of a curriculum contact person; job descriptions outlining the principal duties of machine operators and machinists; program attendance, schedule, and grading policies; a unit outline; a duty listing; a duty-by-duty listing of tasks for machine operators; a list of performance objectives that is cross-referenced to a list of duty and task statements; knowledge and attitude profiles; a list of laboratory safety procedures; and a 7-item bibliography.
