Abstract	Described in this report is a study conducted to determine whether different kinds of employer-supported child care services had differing effects on the users of these services. Data were gathered on a year's attendance and turnover rates for 891 female employees who had used employer-provided child care. Subjects were randomly selected from 39 Midwestern and Northeastern companies and hospitals offering no services, on-site or off-site child care, or information and referral services. Results indicated that provision of on-site and off-site child care services by the employer had a positive effect on users' turnover rates; their morale; their perceptions of their job performance; and their decisions to accept and continue employment, to recommend their employer, and to work overtime. Information and referral services did not have as positive an effect as provision of child care. Other issues discussed in the report are the growth of corporate child care services and their limitations, the extent to which a corporation's public image is enhanced by providing day care, and the government's role in promoting information on corporate day care.
