AbstractThis curriculum guide has been developed to help junior and senior high school students who may have had no previous consumer and homemaking education courses to accept the roles and responsibilities of adulthood. Designed for a one-semester course, the guide contains five teaching units, each dealing with an area vital to the successful development of persons into mature adults. These five areas are career preparation, rights and responsibilities of adults in a consumer society, managing financial resources, building and strengthening family relationships (including marriage), and parenting roles and responsibilities. At the beginning of each unit are a brief rationale, overall objectives, and topical outline for the unit. Specific objectives are included for each topic and subtopic. Suggested student activities are coded to the content to enable students to achieve the objectives. Each topic has a resources section that lists references for materials used to develop the content and to enhance the presentation. (KC)
