Abstract | Language camps that provide language immersion and cultural experiences for high school students outside of the classroom are described. Descriptions of 49 camps in 26 states are arranged alphabetically by state and provide the names and addresses of sponsors and facts about the program activities and fees. Two of the language camps programs are described in detail: a week-long French and Spanish camp sponsored by Ohio University, and a French weekend program organized by two high school language teachers in Iowa. The two detailed descriptions cover staffing, fees, activities, scheduling, special events, camp publications, and evaluation. An annotated bibliography is appended. (RW) |
