Abstract | This handbook is designed to assist vocational technical adult education providers in developing workshops for displaced homemakers. Covered first are various aspects of planning a displaced homemakers workshop, including format, time, location, publicity and recruitment, staff and presenters, community resources, budget items, and other preparations. The goals and objectives of the program are outlined. Provided next are guidelines, resources, and instructional materials for use in implementing workshop sessions on the following topics: coping with grief and loss, assessing personal strengths and weaknesses, managing financial resources, identifying job skills, developing job and career seeking techniques, and decision making. A model is presented for a four-session bilingual workshop for Hispanic American displaced homemakers. Appended to the report are recruitment brochures, a cover letter to funeral directors, profiles of presenters, a community resource folder, a list of community resource brochures and samples, an outline of wills and estate planning, a seminar brochure, and course evaluations.
