Abstract | The purpose of this guide is to assist junior high physical education teachers to plan coeducational physical education classes in grades seven through nine as mandated by Title IX. A brief outline is presented of the physiological and psychological characteristics of junior high school students and how consideration of these factors may be used in grouping for coeducational physical education. The activities section of this resource guide is divided into four categories: (1) team sports; (2) individual and dual sports; (3) games; and (4) health and appearance. Within each category, recommendations are made for coeducational groupings. Also included are descriptions of modified games. (JD) |
