| Abstract | These papers, presented at a 1980 American Anthropological Association seminar, address two topics: why the teaching of anthropology should be promoted, especially at the secondary level; and how anthropologists and educators might achieve this goal. Several of the papers have been substantially revised since the symposium. The papers are organized into three major sections. Part I deals with the history and status of anthropology teaching. Teacher training is the focus of the papers in Part II. Part III presents case studies in innovative teaching at the secondary and college levels. The publication concludes with a selected bibliography of resources on pre-collegiate anthropology. Bibliographies, books and articles, and periodicals are cited. (RM) |
