Abstract | This unit of instruction on electrical energy usage in the home was designed for use by home economics teachers in Florida high schools and by home economics extension agents as they work with their clientele. It is one of a series of 11 instructional units (see note) written to help teachers and agents to educate their students and clients about the problems of energy shortages and strategies for energy conservation and management. Topics covered in this unit include reading an electrical meter, computing the kilowatt hour usage of household appliances, determining the cost of operating household appliances, and selecting the most energy-efficient appliances by reading energy efficiency labels. The unit contains student performance objectives, content information, teaching-learning activities, student handouts, transparency masters, and evaluation instruments. (KC) |
