Abstract | This document presents a trainer's guide to accompany a multi-volume set of curriculum materials designed for educating Child Development Associates. The training is geared toward development of identified competencies which require practice in order that proficiency be acquired. Many learning activities have been designed to fulfill that training purpose; the bulk of the trainer's guide focuses upon course syllabi and outlines. Evaluation is also considered a prime aspect in a Child Development Associate's development of competence. Suggestions for maintaining a teacher's activity-card file are made, and many forms are included, among them the CDA Observation/Field Supervision Form, Long Range Planning Form, and Weekly Plan Format. Means of obtaining the Child Development Associate credential are described. Part of the assessment and credentialing process involves the development of a portfolio by the trainee; portfolio requirements are discussed and a sample portfolio provided. (Author/DB) |
