Abstract	These proceedings are divided into three parts: Program summary, summary of major presentations, and issues identified during the seminar. The first part summarizes seminar objectives and program schedule. Papers of nine speakers are presented in the second, and major, part. The first paper reviews the past decade and indicates the future agricultural situation. Discussed in the second and third presentations are trends, critical issues, and challenges in education and the agricultural industry that will affect agricultural education. The fourth paper presents perceptions of the role of the vocational agricultural teacher. Agricultural education as part of the public school system is the topic of the fifth presentation. The next paper reviews achievements of the agricultural education profession, analyzes some problems, and projects needs in the eighties. Adult and young farmer education is considered in the seventh paper. The eighth presentation briefly addresses agricultural education's role in shaping the future. The final paper offers observations on the shape of the future in agricultural education and reiterates some unresolved issues. In the third part are presented issues identified by seminar participants concerning agricultural education and adult education as part of the public school system and development of agricultural education teachers.
