Abstract	Compiled from information supplied by the California State Library and by the ten library systems served by the Bay Area Reference Center, this directory covers indexes generated by libraries, as well as special collections and large subject collections in Northern California libraries. The main section of the publication is arranged alphabeticaly by subject; entries consist of a brief annotation for the index or special collection, description of format, years covered, whether it is on-going, whether it is reference or circulating, if photocopying is possible, and the type of assistance the library will provide. The final section lists libraries that contributed information; it is arranged alphabetically by system, then by library, and contains all subject headings used for the systems' collections and in-house indexes.
