AbstractThe status of sex equity practices in vocational education in Florida was assessed to provide a data base of identified needs related to sex equity. An advisory committee developed 115 goal statements describing the activities vocational educators would be engaged in to achieve the ideal status of sex equity in vocational education. Surveys of vocational teachers, counselors, and administrators were conducted to determine the levels of achievement of the goals and activities. Results indicated a need for inservice training for all vocational personnel in dealing effectively with conflict situations confronting nontraditional students in vocational classes and in the occupational area. Other data showed a need for the development and use of staff and student recruitment techniques emphasizing persons in nontraditional roles. (Appendixes, amounting to approximately one-half of the report, include a description of the needs and assessment model, listing of the 115 goal statements, survey instruments, and various breakdowns of rank order of survey items.)
