AbstractThis report describes an Indiana project to develop occupational matrices in six vocational service areas--agribusiness, business and office, health, home economics, marketing and distribution, and trades and industries. (These matrices cluster industry-verified job titles in an occupational field on the basis of task commonality.) These procedures for achieving the objective are discussed: (1) identify occupational area for study; (2) appoint working committee; (3) identify program, curricula, course dimensions of matrix; (4) identify survey population and select sample; (5) construct and field test survey instrument; (6) distribute surveys; (7) analyze data; (8) critique and review data; and (9) distribute matrix. Charts present survey data from these companies/businesses: agriculture sales and service, printing, welding, and building trades. Appendixes, amounting to over one-half of the report, include six job title survey instruments and program matrices for agriculture sales and service, printing, welding, and building trades. Each program matrix assigns each job title to a course category that is part of a designated curriculum. Tasks, course core, curricula core, and program core are also specified. (YLB)
