| Abstract | ACTFL has initiated a number of new projects, several of which relate directly to the President's Commission on Foreign Language and International Studies. The emphasis is on finding ways to support and to work more closely with teachers, teacher educators, and administrators in order to address the full range of student needs. The agenda for the 1980s is in line with the emerging role of ACTFL, that is, an organization that should bridge the gap between professions and foster interdisciplinary connections. Two items from the agenda are described and discussed here: (1) the ACTFL Alert Network whose purpose is to acquire constituents in preparation for anticipated legislative initiatives, and (2) a fund-raising project which solicits corporate sponsors who are willing to be of continuing assistance in funding ACTFL operational expenses.
