AbstractThere are ten easy steps to managing cooperative occupational education. (1) Establish cooperative occupational education as a major component within the total vocational program. (2) Make a careful assessment of the students' needs and readiness to participate in a cooperative training experience. (3) Select training stations on the basis of criteria of appropriateness for the trainee and reliability of the firm. (4) Select specific job placements within a training station based on the career interests and training needs of the individual student. (5) Select the training sponsors carefully and help them become effective in the roles of counselor, instructor, planner, and evaluator. (6) Develop training agreements which will clearly identify the commitments and responsibilities of all parties. (7) Develop a tailor-made training plan for each individual trainee based upon his/her career objectives. (8) Orient the student-trainees to their training stations. (9) Establish a system and schedule for conducting coordination visits. (10) Establish an evaluation system with criteria that will adequately measure the learning outcomes of the student and the overall effectiveness of the program.
