Abstract | This second national survey of public radio stations' involvement in educational services to schools, colleges, and universities was conducted by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) for use by individual public radio stations, educational agencies, and other organizations interested and involved in planning public radio's services to American education. Findings, which are based upon responses to a survey of 191 out of a possible 202 CPB-qualified radio stations, reveal that 78 stations provided education services in 1978-79. Ten of the stations provided K-12 services only; 53 provided post-secondary services only; and 15 provided both K-12 and postsecondary services. This report also provides detailed information on staffing, utilization services, volunteers, curriculum materials, sub-channel converters, coordination with television, and audience interaction, as well as information about the future plans of the stations with regard to educational services. Also included are tables of data, a copy of the survey instrument, and a list of the stations surveyed along with the educational services provided by each one. (LLS) |
